New Music: Alcoholic Faith Mission | Sobriety Up and Left (acoustic)

10 Nov

This Brooklyn band Alcoholic Faith Mission’s name comes from when an inebriated Jensen and Solund were wandering the streets of their adopted New York home when they happened upon a neon cross emblazoned with ‘Apostolic Faith Mission’, words they drunkenly misread as Alcoholic Faith Mission and appropriated for their band.

Their tunes are strong and hymnal, with echoes of Arcade Fire and Califone, and the album’s one would-be hit, “Got Love? Got Shellfish!” has a thrilling Bowie-esque chorus. Sombre yet still life-affirming. However, I am presenting to you an acoustic version of Sobriety Up and Left
