New Music: Noah and the Whale | L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N

14 Dec

Indie-Folk group, Noah And The Whale bring Christmas a little early with two new songs streaming. The upbeat “LI.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.” shows a more obvious pop side than usual, while remaining true to the sound they have crafted for themselves.

Head over to www.noahandthewhale.com to listen to the second song “Wild Thing”. Have some fun with the tape-deck they have set up for this song.

Noah And The Whale have used their own website as well as their Sound Cloud profile to release their new songs. With so many sites and platforms to share music on, would you prefer bands share their new music in one place (band website, myspace, facebook)? Or do you like the content that different sites offer, and don’t mind the jumping back and forth?

New Music: Carte Blanche feat. Kid Sister – Do! Do! Do!

7 Dec

For the new single “Do! Do! Do!” featuring Chi-Town homegirl KID SISTER, french female graffiti legend FAFI had an idea in mind, drop some sketches on my desk, my crew called some young producers and here you are! It was shot in Paris (obviously), Kid Sister killed it, Fafi tagged team with Paris hottest secret YUÉ, booked a famous parisian model, spent 2 white nights, spent even more white nights for the “à la Roger Rabbit” animation.

New Music: Wild Orchid Children

6 Dec

One of the many projects created by members of recently reunited Gatsby’s American Dream, Wild Orchid Children are exploring beyond their pasts, as well as their influences. After the initial hiatus of Gatsby’s, a new group emerged called Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground, drawing heavily on the sound of the likes of The Beatles. Kay Kay emerged with a “softer” sound, that focused on melody and orchestration. Created simultaneously as Kay Kay, Wild Orchid Children are a psychedelic, no-rules mass of sound acting as the evil twin in the birth of these two bands.

Site of the week: Grooveshark – Spotify without the hassle

4 Dec

One of the challenges the music industry faces is not just curbing the rates of illegal downloading but educating the legal alternatives. A better streategy for those guys at RIAA personally. GrooveShark is one of those great alternatives which works exactly like Spotify but you don’t have to download software or get an exclusive invite. For those who like to stream from various locations and computers – check out GrooveShark!

New Music: Fez | My Teeth

24 Nov

London based indie-quartet Fez are turning heads. Being picked up by BBC introducing and Victoria’s Secret the catchy melodies and laddish hooks is a refreshing break from the synth and art-core sounds invading our ears of recent. Appreciate this under-produced, underground tune, I bet you won’t help singing along in your head by the end of it!

New Music: Uffie | Neuneu

22 Nov

American-born & paris-based electro-rapper uffie’s long & hotly-awaited debut album, “sex, dreams, & denim jeans,” dropped via ed banger a few months back & below you can check out one of our favorite tunes from the album, neuneu, produced by french dj mr. ozio.  The song is an absolutely killer,  jazzy electro number, w/ a justice-esque danceibility & some absolutely killer brass. Listen to it below & grab the album!

New Music: Chromeo | Hot Mess

17 Nov

The video features Chromeo working at a police station on a typical day – I don’t know why cops moan, they get it so easy! Hot Mess sees the duo at their usual best, with funky 80’s synths and awkward-white-guy-trying-to-be-soulful vocals.

Chromeo | Atlantic Records

New Music: Daft Punk | Outlands

15 Nov

Can not wait for the film!!!
